Frequently asked questions
Is my data private?
Without an account, yes — everything lives in your browser's local storage and nothing is sent anywhere. If you create an account, your contacts move to a database scoped to you alone, protected by database-level access rules — see the Privacy Policy for details.
Can I import my LinkedIn connections?
Yes — export your connections as a CSV from LinkedIn's data-download tool, then import it via file picker, drag-and-drop, or paste. Re-importing later fills in missing details on people you already added instead of duplicating them.
Do I need to create an account?
No — Forge runs entirely in your browser with no sign-up required. If you want your contacts synced across devices automatically, you can create a free account (full name, email, password) from inside the app at any time.
What about the AI career-pathing and email-drafting features?
Find My Path is live now — anyone can rank their contacts by relevance to a goal and get a template-based coffee-chat draft, no account needed. Signed-in accounts additionally get an AI-written draft and a path breakdown once the AI provider is configured on the backend.
Can I use this on more than one device?
Yes — create a free account and your contacts sync automatically wherever you sign in. Without an account, data stays local per browser; use Export Backup on one device and Restore on another to carry contacts over manually.
Who can see my Discover profile and Forum posts?
Discover and Forum are scoped to your college — or your whole school system, like all of CUNY or all of UC, if your school belongs to one. Discover only shows your photo, major, degree, class year, and bio if you've turned on "Discoverable" in your profile, and it never shows your email. Forum posts and replies show your real name and college to everyone in that same scope.
What if someone misbehaves on the Forum or Discover?
Every thread, reply, and profile has a Report option. Reports go only to the Forge team, never to the person you reported, and we can remove content or suspend an account that violates the Terms. See the Privacy Policy for exactly what that review access covers.
